Real experiences of retirement living at Mayfield Retirement
In their own words
The best way to understand life at here is through the voices of those who call our community home. Residents and families share their real experiences of care, comfort, and community at Mayfield.

Betty: “Everyone makes me feel included and welcome… I never feel left out.”
Betty wasn’t sure what retirement living would be like. But from the moment she arrived, the kindness and welcome she received put her worries to rest. She’s found comfort and community, and formed easy friendships that make each day something to look forward to.
Howard: “I’ve been told I can be a bit of a handful.”
Howard wondered how he’d fit in, especially after living in other retirement homes. But here, his jokes, stories, and big personality aren’t just welcomed… they’re appreciated. This is the friendliest place he’s ever lived, and it shows in how happy and connected he feels each day.

Darlene: “Just come, you’ll never be happier.”
After four and a half months in the hospital, Darlene wasn’t sure what life would look like next. Her family helped her explore retirement living, and the moment she arrived at Mayfield she knew, “This is the place for me.” She settled in quickly, made wonderful friends, and now enjoys each day with music, laughter, and good company.

The minute we walked through the door for our tour, we were greeted with such warmth, caring and friendliness that I knew my Dad had found the place for him. The Mayfield is well maintained and ensuring residents safety is a priority. My Dad is enjoying every minute of the activities, socializing with fellow residents, the variety of meals and being able to continue with his independence. The staff at the Mayfield are incredible as they made my Dad feel valued, cared for and part of the community from day one. It is never easy having your parent make this step, but the Mayfield most certainly made my Dad’s transition a smooth one.

The Mayfield is not just a retirement home— it’s truly a family.

I generally don’t leave reviews but my wife and I went to visit her aunt at the Mayfield and WOW!! Home away from home. We had such anxiety about her aunt leaving her own home but after our visit our hearts are resting easy. We met the Executive Director who was so gracious and knowledgeable and clearly loved by everyone. I think she gave half a dozen hugs while we were chatting. My wife is an interior designer and couldn’t get over how beautifully welcoming it was. Well done Lori and thank you!

Writing to say how happy we are as a family with the care our father is receiving at the Mayfield in Prescott. Our dad has been a resident at the Mayfield since August 2024 as well he had a respite stay November 2023 previous to that for 1 month. The care he has received has been excellent. The PSWs are very caring and really get to know the residents well. The nursing care as well has been top notch. My dad has made friends and is socially more active (at 95) than he has been in years. Can’t say anything negative – only positive things have been our experience! When reaching out for help – be it nursing care or maintenance issue – things are always attended to promptly.
My dad is very happy at the Mayfield and that is what matters.

I would like to express how taken I am with the Mayfield. I have been living here since June 2022 and I am impressed with the staff and the food. Laurie & Lana’s activities are wonderful. I was a nursery school teacher for several years in Toronto and find the activities most interesting. All the staff here are very helpful and kind.

My Mom is 89 and living at the Mayfield, it was a big move having lived in Toronto all of her life. We were nervous about the transition but we couldn’t be happier now that she is settled in. We toured every residence in Prescott and the Mayfield stood out above and beyond.
